More About Fashion Pride

Fashion Pride Event Schedule

We’ve been working on Fashion Pride for two months, ensuring a great event to raise funds for AIDS Commitee of Toronto (ACT). ACT is an organization devoted to educating the public about the dangers of HIV and AIDS, aiding those living with the disease, and researching the best ways to disseminate information to the public. The charity has been around since 1983, continually adjusting its programs to the changing needs of its community. It works with gay men, women, and youth, increasing “knowledge, skills and resilience in the face of HIV, and reducing HIV transmission.”

In order to raise funds for this worthy cause, Fashion Pride has created an exciting week of shopping, entertainment, and fashion shows. Top designers have created exclusive items with 100% of the proceeds being donated to ACT. Our week is filled with entertainment from Regi Yifu from Regimade, SL Live Radio, DJ Kaj, and live music from the lovely Tamra Sands. In addition to exciting parties, we have two fabulous fashion shows from Babylon Model Agency and Les Garcons.

Donation boxes will be placed around the sim with donations going directly to ACT Merryman, the avatar created by the charity to accept donations. Additionally, real life donations can be made on the ACT website here.

We look forward to seeing you.

Gearing Up For Fashion Pride

Fasjion Pride Logo

Fashion Pride is just 5 days away and we’re preparing for the big event. We have great designers joining us with exclusive designs created to aid AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT). Our Fashion Pride bloggers are hard at work, sharing a bit of what you can expect to see during this week of shopping, fashion shows, and entertainment. Mark your calendars and join us from March 10th – 17th for Fashion Pride.

What is ACT?

ACT LOGO

Founded in 1983, AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) is an organization devoted to providing services and programs for Toronto and the surrounding communities. Through counselling programs, information, vocational support, and social support, the charity provides empowerment to men, women, and youth living with HIV. The program ACT provides help keep those who have HIV independent and enhance their overall well-being. ACT works with gay men, women, and youth to keep them informed, and increase their resilience as they face HIV. Additionally, ACT works to reduce HIV transmission in the community, continually sharing information on the virus in outreach and education programs to keep people aware of preventative measures. As ACT states, “Today in Toronto, more people than ever are living with HIV and every day two more people are infected with HIV. So our work is far from over. With your help, ACT can continue to take action against HIV/AIDS.”

Thank you for joining us as we come together to help ACT take this action against HIV and AIDS. With your support, this valuable charity will receive funds that will allow it to continue reaching out to those living with HIV, disseminating information to prevent the spread of the virus, and research new ways to reach the members of the population.

What is Second Pride?

Second Pride Logo

Since 2005, Second Pride has worked with the LGBT community to bring together all members of the population in a spirit of camaraderie, to celebrate our victories, and to share vital information. The members of the board are volunteers and the organization is entirely non-profit with proceeds used to maintain the Second Pride sim, support special events, and encourage education of members about pressing LGBT issues. Every June, Second Pride creates a large Pride festival inworld, providing a gathering for everyone in order to help foster the spirit of community. The festival includes art, fashion, parties, and shopping. Additionally, the festival shares information about LGBT history. As a volunteer led, non-profit organization, Second Pride is grateful for the support of all members of the LGBT community and our straight allies as we work to raise funds for AIDS Committee of Toronto and move forward to another successful festival.
